Sports Day 2017!

Posted on

What another successful Sports Day at Starcross Primary School with such lovely, sunny weather!

We started the afternoon with our smorgasbord of activities as the children circulated to have a go. There was long jump, a sack race, football dribbling, obstacle course, egg and spoon race and a bean bag throw. The children were brilliant all the way through. Well done to the Year 5 and 6 children who supported those lower down the school too.

Then, we were treated to the cheer-leading squad’s routine, which had a surprise with 2 Year 6 boys showing us their free-running skills. Considering there were people who were missing on the day, they did so well with their tricks and tumbles!

Next came the relay races. Each of the classes had their teams chosen and sprinted. If you blinked, you would have missed them they were so quick! Rounding off the afternoon was the Year 6 leavers 3-legged race, who gave us a lot of laughs as they apple bobbed, clambered and football dribbled to the finish line!

The winning colour team was the Green Team! Well done to all of you!
The trophies for Sportsmanship went to James and Poppy in Year 6.

Finally, huge thanks to all of the people who came to give their support to the afternoon. It wouldn’t have been the same without you there cheering on the children. Also, HUGE thanks to the PTFA for all their hard work serving refreshments to the visitors and to those who made cakes to sell. You are always so generous with your time.

A great afternoon!
