STEM workshop 1 – interesting selfies!

Posted on

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

This week was the start of the 6 STEM workshops after school and had a focus on photography. Once we had learnt a little about cameras and especially lenses and how they work, the children had a go at enlarging images on the iPads.

We then learnt about mirrors and how to use them to create even interesting selfies. It was quite difficult to try and angle the mirror as well as take a photo at the same time to capture your reflection! However, some of the children were successful.

It was lovely to have a mixture of children from Curlews right up to Puffins attending.

A few people have mentioned that they didn’t know about the workshops. The children were asked if they had an interest at the start of the Summer Term last academic year. If they did, they took a letter home and various forms were filled out from there. The children who were in Year 1 were each given an expression of interest letter. As places are limited as it is an external company we are using, the children were given several reminders about it. If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me, Miss Mann. Many thanks.
